Last month, Toronto was graced with the grand opening of McEwan, a European style gourmet grocery store located in the heart of Shops at Don Mills. Unlike other supermarkets we are familiar with in North America, McExan offers a gateway to great food without all the hassles and prep-time needed in the kitchen. Inspirations of this restaurant-style grocery store came from European grocers often found in Paris or Milan. Here is my experience at McEwan and my little taste of Paris.

A lot of the foundation of family life is the customs and traditions that occur within the home. Taken from one generation to another, there are special ways to celebrate and live as a family group. Many of these traditions revolve around uniquely prepared food. Most of us have several special recipes as well as cherished memories of the smells of cooking and preparing food with our families. Added to this, is when we sit down together, sharing these once a year meals.

Moving to a new home is a joyous event and is an important milestone in our lives. Traditionally, the proud new home owner will invite friends and relatives over for a housewarming party, in order to return the hospitality received in the past, and to show off the new house. When someone is a first time home owner, he/she may not have much household items. Friends and relatives usually congratulate the home owner with housewarming gifts that may be needed in setting up the new home. In addition, these gifts are often symbols of abundance and good luck, and are intended to bring prosperity and joy to the new home.

With new progress being made in designing Spinningfields, a great new many restaurants and dining out places have been introduced in this hub of Manchester. Spinningfields brings one of the finest contemporary dining and entertaining experiences to Manchester. Offering an assorted mix of flavours and styles accessible at some twenty-five different cafes, bars and restaurants; this project is breaking new culinary ground in Manchester by bringing Gourmet Burger Kitchen, Carluccio's and Strada to the city for the first time.
